Every journey you take is a story whether you write about it for someone else to read and enjoy or whether you keep it for your own pleasure. Enjoy!! Barbara L. Feader. The book covers the period from July 27 Through August 27,1998. Barbara L. Feader was born Nov. 26, 1919, in Falls City, Alabama. Barbara was a pilot, author and traveler. She was an active member of the 99s International Women Pilots, she was secretary for several years, and wrote the "Crabpot" newsletter and Maryland chapter history. She was a Mid-Atlantic Section convention chairman. When she was 59 years old, she rented a Cessna 182 out of Moorabbin Airport, Cheltenham, Victoria, Australia, and flew the outback from Aug. 22 to Sept. 5, 1978. At age 79, she rented a Cessna 182 from July 27 to Aug. 27, 1998, and spent a month flying the South African bush, traveling more than 4,500 miles and visiting 11 countries. She wrote and published two books based on these experiences self-flying the Australian outback and self-flying the African bush. A member of the Eastern Shore Writers Association, she gave presentations and supported the group for a number of years. She also flew volunteer flights for the U.S. Coast Guard and donated her time and skills to several aviation groups, to which she belonged. The author wrote: Always desiring to take the road least traveled, in 1998 I made plans through Smith Travel in Easton, Maryland to take one very special road and explore game preserves in South and East Africa. But the roads I travel are between 3,000 and 9,000 feet above mean sea level in the left seat of a single engine airplane. This journal, telling about the author's twenty-eight day self-fly safari in the South and East African Bush with a very special young lady as her guide, was her way of doing it all over again. She wrote that she hoped the reader would come aloft and fly this exciting journey with them. Presumed First Edition, First printing--self-published by the author.
