H., is 'Rural Recreations, Or Modern Farmer's Calendar', a fascinating work providing detailed instructions for the management of a farm through each month of the year. Collated, illustrated with six plates, two of which are folding.The second work present is R. Hall's 'Elements of Botany; or, an Introduction to the Sexual System of Linneaus', a scientific work discussing the classification of various plants and vegetables.Illustrated with two folding copper plate engravings. Collated, complete.These two works were sometimes issued with a third volume, also published in 1802, 'All the Recent Improvements in Agriculture and Rural Economy'. All three volumes together were titled 'The Gardner's Instructor'.Two charmingly illustrated early nineteenth century agricultural works. In a full calf binding. One spine label missing, with significant loss to another. Joints starting, with rear board holding firm and front joint tender. Loss of leather at rear joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with the odd spot. Offsetting to pages facing plates. Good. book.
