The striking illustrations are by Eppo Doeve [1907-1981], a popular Dutch painter and cartoonist who was born in Bandung, Indonesia and moved to the Netherlands in 1927.This translation is a title in the series "De Onsterfelijken" [The Immortals], characterized as "masterworks of world literature".Contact was an anti-Nazi publisher. They first published the diary of Anne Frank in 1947.
