Insgesamt konnte er diesen Titel bis 1955 zwölfmal, davon sechsmal in ununterbrochener Folge, erringen und ist damit Rekordhalter. Im Jahre 1928 wurde er in Den Haag Amateurweltmeister der FIDE.
