Decorated paper boards in three colors, 97 pp. Eoghan Ó Tuairisc/Eugene Watters was born in Ballinasloe, Co Galway in 1919 and died in 1982. He was a prolific Irish writer, in all genres, and editor of Feasta from 1962 to 1965. This book was written about the teachers who preserved Irish culture, speak Gaelic, or practice Catholicism under the Penal Laws passed between 1702 and 1719. Light wear top and bottom of spine, previous owner name and price on ffep. Very scarce in very good condition.

Flat signed by author to title page with street name and date. Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Binding remains firm. A strip of sellotape the length of both pastedowns. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some mild marking and tanning. Gilt lettering remains bright and clear. Boards are slightly bowed.
