Wolfgang Oscar Gross (1881-1967) trained at the eye clinic of the university in Wurzburg under Carl von Hess. He was a renowned expert in the field of clinical pancreas research. Wilhelm Paul Czermak (1856-1906) was the director of the Prague Eye Clinic from 1895 until his death in 1906. Eduard Hummelsheim (1868-1952) was a German ophthalmologist associated with the University of Bonn was a pioneer of transposition surgery.
