Zustand: Gut. 175 P. Pages permanent minimal bronzy. Also permanent with full page illustrations in black/white. Sometimes also in colour. Book end paper a bit water weavy and slightly bronzy. Printed in Norway. Adapted from the Preface: The arts and crafts of Norway, comprisin as they do the daily round of field and forest, and the solemn dignity of church and holiday, including music and dancing, ballads and stories, are too vast a subject to enclose within the pages of a single tome. There are few contries where native art has flourisked so abnudantly and with such a wealth of local details and features, from District to District, as in Norway. To a large extent this may be due to the privileged position enjoyed by the Norwegian peasant compared with his counterpart in most other European countries, as well as the prosperity of the 18th century, when Norwegian peasant art enjoyed its Golden Age.
