First edition. 152pp., a frontispiece illustration that extends onto the title-page, and other black and white illustration in the text. Bertram Edwards was a teacher and writer of children's books. In tis story, Mr. Raven's bird scarer gave Ray and Mike the first warning of strange happenings that were to shatter the peace of the Fenland countryside. Would the flying saucer really appear? Events moved swiftly to a tremendous climax when the secret of Professor Mason's observatory literally exploded before their very eyes. The book is bound in the original cream boards with black titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with bumping to the top front spine corner. The contents are tight and clean with some foxing to the endpapers and slightly heavier foxing to the fore edge of the text block. There is no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with some soiling and the spine ends are lightly bumped. The wrapper is in an easily removed clear plastic protective cover.
