The front board has a 5/8 in. bubbled line in the cloth. The text block ends and part of the front endpaper have darkened. A gift inscription, with a date in 1924, is on the front pastedown. DJ: The spine panel has darkened; the front and back panels are less thus. The top and bottom edges have seven chips, up to a linear 1 in., and eight closed tears, up to 1 1/2 in. Ellis, Edward S. [Edward Sylvester Ellis (April 11, 1840 - June 20, 1916) was an American author who was born in Ohio and died at Cliff Island, Maine. A teacher, school administrator, journalist, and the author of hundreds of books and magazine articles that he produced by his name and by a number of noms de plume. Notable fiction stories by Ellis include The Steam Man of the Prairies and Seth Jones, or the Captives of the Frontier. Internationally, Edward S.
