Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. 34 pp., 8.5 x 13", original blue stapled wrappers printed in red and black; mimeographed sheets. "In the field of Americana few aspects of the subject compare in interest and importance with that of the relationship between the whites and the Indians, and the treaties which were the written manifestation of that relationship. These treaties, often the result of the white man's greed for lands and gold are, in effect, the fundamental documents of our national domain." (From the Foreword.) The geographical scope of these 146 treaties is vast: from Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, the Far West, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Middle West, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon to Wyoming and points in between. A bookseller catalogue that has become an oft-cited standard reference source. Scarce. Some chipping to the hinge; interior fine.

"An unlikely bookseller in New York City became the leading dealer in rare Western Americana for most of the twentieth century. After working in western-U.S. and South American gold mines at the turn of the twentieth century, Edward Eberstadt (18831958) returned to his home in New York City in 1907. Through luck and happenstance, he purchased an old book for fifty cents that turned out to be a rare sixteenth-century Mexican imprint. From this bit of serendipity, Eberstadt quickly became one of the leading western Americana rare book dealers. This." legendary book collection. formed the backbone of many of today's top western Americana archives " (University of Oklahoma Press, Site).
