It actually was adopted by some J-schools. It bears Introductions by Don Marquis, Christopher Morley, George Horace Lorimer, Franklin P. Adams. He gives advice such as, "Newspaper verse should be as simple as Mother Goose." Not himself having written an Introduction, Edson supplied an Appendix, in which he explores a rather literary feud involving F.P. Adams and young F. From 1964 to 1984 the journal, founded and edited by George Hitchcock, was known for introducing the early work or first books of significant poets. This issue includes an extended, seven and a half page, review of "Regarding Wave" by Gary Snyder (ND, 1970) by William Aiken; and first or early printing of Wendell Berry's "the mad farmer manifesto: the first amendment", followed by a 2 stanza poem called "praise". This issue is claassic early Hitchcock, with multi-colored pages and clip-art illustrations. "He was the pre-eminent maverick independent magazine publisher" (Howard Junker).
