[BAL 10134.] Published 2 months after the U.S. with same contents but this edition edited by Irving who introduced Bryant's poetry to British audiences in his preface, added several pages of notes at the end and, per William/Edge (p.97), altered "The Song of Marion's Men." Poor with all but small remnant of spine label perished, front cover detached but present, spine back significantly chipped.

Full dark-brown morocco both boards decoratively stamped in blind, the front board with the title and author's name in gilt, the spine has raised bands creating six compartments each repeating a gilt device save for the second from the top which as the title in gilt with a simple gilt border, and the fourth from the top with the author's name in gilt and repeating the border, "Memorial Edition" in gilt at the foot of the spine, decorative gilt turn-ins, all page edges gilt, and marbled endpapers. Book plate of Dana Jerome Blackwell on the front pastedown, also a bookseller's label on the front pastedown from Pond & Childs of Hartford, Connecticut. Boards and spine show minimal signs of wear and a small abrasion at the top of the front free endpaper, else near fine with the binding tight and sound, the pages clean, and the gilt bright.
