In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. A large, fawn cloth bound, hardback book with black block titles on both the front board and spine. This wonderful book is in good condition, and as its a used book, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. Please note additional postage/shipping charges apply for overseas. 260 pages, all intact, some odd soft brown marks, but overall a nice book that's stood the test of time. First Edition, first published in March 1926, reprinted in April 1926, and this specific book was reprinted in July 1926. Printed in Great Britain by R. Clay & Sons Ltd, Bungay, Suffolk. Included with all the stunning illustrations is a black and white map titled " Combe's Map of Leicestershire and the Surrounding Country", with small tear to edge. A truly wonderful book, that has stood the test of time, yet still offers an intriguing insight into the past, and still has the opportunity to be preserved and cherished for future generations alike.

Hardcover. Zustand: Good+. First Edition. Paper spine rubbed and foxed and faded, with small losses at extremities. Narrow split to paper along entire length of front joint. Some rubbing and marks to papered boards. Some small 3/8" abrasions to blank paper on margins of front board. Splash stains to paper on rear board, not affecting the rear endpaper or inside of book. Some foxing. No signatures or stamps. Front endpaper has an annotation in pencil "1st Edn 2/6". ; Scarce. First edition in book form, reprinted from the periodical "Field". xv. [1], 151 pages + [1] page advertisements + portrait frontispiece. Original red printed papered boards. Page dimensions: 183 x 106mm. The papered boards are of card of a thickness of about 1mm. This is fairly stiff and card, but it is perhaps a judgement call whether one would call the book a hardcover or a softcover. The boards are relatively inflexible compared to the average softcover, whilst being somewhat flexible compared to the average hardcover. [Bibliographical reference: Penzer, p. 247 - "Bound in red cardboard with black lettering on face. [. . .] The title of the above was originally 'The Secrets of the Sword,' after the work of that name by Baron de Bazancourt, from whom Burton got the idea of dividing up the work into 'Evenings,' etc."].
