The biodiversity region is equally rich in cultural diversity. Difficult terrain and long isolation proved to be a major bottlebeck in the way of development of this resource rich region. Of late, this region is drawing the attention of government and other development agencies and North East is poised to take a big leap towards development. However, generalised developmental policies may not bring the solution to this region of geographical and cultural difference and development policies needs to be focused on region's problems and prospects giving due recognition to local ethos. In a bid to find solutions, opinion of experts with deep understanding of North East have been taken and being compiled in the form of this volume.
