A facsimile Limited Edition 1 of 750 copies of the original edition published in 1751, this copy is not numbered. Four black and white illustrations. Includes an early and imaginary voyage that includes a trip to the moon by flying machine, this being one of the illustrations. Foxing to the front end papers and title page, spine tanned, name to front end paper, corners pushed in. In Very Good sound and tight condition. Member of the P.B.F.A. LITERATURE 1926-1945.

Original quarter vellum with orange cloth-covered boards, titles in gilt to the spine and a gilt motif to the upper board. Illustrated in black and white with a fold-out map, a fold-out frontispiece, and five further illustrations. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the velum and cloth with some light discolouration, the edges a little rubbed and a slight bump to the bottom corner of the lower board. Without the silk page marker. The contents, with some offsetting and spotting to the endpapers, are otherwise clean throughout. Signed by N. M. Penzer in black ink on the half title. The first English translation of an anonymous account of a Spanish 1792 expedition to what is now British Columbia, describing the geography, flora, fauna and the indigenous people that they came across, as well as an encounter with an English expedition led by George Vancouver. Original yellow cloth covered boards stamped with an armorial device, vellum spine lettered in gilt, endpapers with faint foxing and the silk tie marker loosely inserted, some edges rough cut. Vellum slightly darkened, cloth lightly discoloured on the rear board, yet a lovely tight, firm, and clean copy of a handsome edition. Publisher's deluxe binding by Sangorski & Sutcliffe. Quarter tan morocco over patterned paper-covered boards with titles in gilt to the spine. Top edge gilt, the others untrimmed. "One of 24 copies hand-painted" in manuscript red ink to the limitation page. Illustrated with two sets of six captioned tissue-guarded plates by Stuart Blanch, with one set hand-coloured and numerous head-pieces, the first hand-coloured. Contained within the original quarter morocco over tan cloth fleece-lined slipcase. A very good copy indeed, the binding square and firm with minor rubbing to the extremities, a little wear to the corners and a touch of fading to the spine. The contents, with a minor tear to a couple of the tissue guards are otherwise wonderfully clean and bright throughout and remain free from any previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. The plates remain bold and fresh. A most attractive copy. Signed by the editor, N. M. Penzer, and illustrator, Stuart Blanch, in ink to the limitation page. A beautifully produced edition of Lucian's satirical dialogues, embellished with a suite of exquisitely hand painted semi-erotic plates.
