Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. 1st Edition. THE ATLANTIC WORLD OF ROBERT G. ALBION GARDINER PROFESSOR EMERITUS HARVARD 1975 1ST EDITION. Quoting from the flap of the dust jacket: Despite all their vastness and mystery and romance, despite their crucial roles as commercial highways, defensive barriers, and sources of food and natural wealth, the world s oceans have been a subject of wide study by serious historians for barely fifty years.no man has played a more significant part than Robert Greenhalgh Albion, Gardiner Professor Emeritus of Oceanic History and Affairs at Harvard University. The present volume celebrates the close of the half-century since the publication of his classic study of the English Navy s timber problem Forests and Sea Power. To it, eight of Albion s colleagues and former students have contributed broadly based interpretative essays on aspects of Atlantic Maritime History. I am very pleased to be able to offer: The Atlantic World of Robert G. Albion, edited by Benjamin W. Labaree. This small, neat hard cover book (6 ¼ x 9 ¼ inches, 263 pages) was published by Wesleyan University Press of Middletown, Connecticut, dated 1975 and a First Edition (so stated). The book is bound in gray paper-covered boards with a quarter spine in aquamarine cloth and silver gilt titles on the spine. It is protected by a pictorial paper dust jacket. There are a few Figures in the book (19 in all, I think), mainly drawings of vintage sailing craft. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket shows some light edge wear, particularly along the top edge which is rolled and slightly frayed, and a bit darkened. The hard covers are clean and bright and the titles on the spine, clear and attractive. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages are clean and bright throughout. Both hinges are fully intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
