Francis Bacon, 1st Viscount St Alban, 22 January 1561 9 April 1626) was an English philosopher, statesman, scientist, jurist, orator, and author. He served both as Attorney General and as Lord Chancellor of England. After his death, he remained extremely influential through his works, especially as philosophical advocate and practitioner of the scientific method during the scientific revolution. The father of empiricism. Provenance- D T Pendleton dealer. NOTE: these are all The New Edition 1825 to 1834 publ by Pickering. It is a full complete set. Volumes viii to xi [4 volumes[, are primarily in Latin though Vol ix has an English preface of several pages in addition to the Latin text. The 8 volume balance are in English with an occasional Latin language passage or quotation, I think some of the Latin may have been lifted from the 1638 edition and mixed in with the English works. So, to summarize, 4 volumes are in Latin and 8 volumes are in English. They are all a part of the same set published sequentially by Pickering. ***9**1828**Latin w/ Eng preface**Pickering***10**1828**Latin**Pickering***8**1827**Latin**Pickering ***11**1829**Latin**Pickering***12**1830**English**Pickering***3**1823**E ng lish**Pickering***4**1826**English**Pickering***5**1826**English**Pickering ***1**1825**English**Pickering***13**1831**English**Pickering***14**1831**E nglish**Pickering***15**1834**English**Pickering***7**1827**English**Picker ing***16**1834**English**Pickering***2**1825**English**Pickering.
