Johann Kaiser worked for BFW and was responsible for the Bf109 and Bf110 aircraft handbooks and helped establish technical archives. Klaus Peters was an aeronautical engineer and the editor of several aeronautical publications. In 1983 he became chief of records for MBB. In Willy Messerschmitt: Pioneer of Aviation Design, authors Hans J. Ebert, Johann B. Kaiser and Klaus Peters have created a monumental work, filled with new and fascinating material on Messerschmitt the man and on his famous series of aircraft. Originally written in German, the book was translated by Ray J. Theriault and Don Cox. This book, with its hundreds of photos, drawings and graphs, is a must-have. The biographical information on Messerschmitt is quite revealing, and the authors keep him in the forefront as they detail the creation of each of his many designs. His earliest glider designs, done in cooperation with Friedrich Harth, are of particular interest. Although advanced in concept, they were doomed to failure by their focus on "wing control."
