Some offsetting to edges of endpapers. Text is bright and clean throughout. Some spotting to endpapers and some spotting and wear to text block edges. Gilt top edge. Imperfect, but a good reading set. Text in English. Volume I shows publishing date of 1953. Black textured cloth binding with gilt decoration and titles to spine, all in good condition. Dust wrappers fair/good, no chips or tears but a little grubby at edges and Volume II has adhesive tape repairs to mylar which has bled onto dust wrapper. The Duke of Saint-Simon was a witness to the end of the reign of Louis XIV and the Regency dating from 1691 to 1723.
