The author, Ron Drummond (1907-1996) was an icon of early surfing, heavily bearded and standing at 6'6". He went on to a career as a photographer, cartographer, and adventurer in northern Canada, Africa, and the South Pacific, but remained an active bodysurfer into the 1990s. 200 Years of Surfing Literature B55.
