He became familiar to painting through his father, who was a church-painter in Tiflis. 1829 for the "Portrait of General Golovin" introduced to the Academy of Arts in Peterburg, he was awarded the title of an "outclass" painter by the Academy. Is famous for his portraits. The National Gallery of Armenia has a nice collection of this artist.
