He volunteers at Lazarus House, a place that helps people get back on their feet. He has a son, two daughters, and six grandchildren. Since retiring two years ago, he has devoted more time to his writing and is working on another book with his best friend.

He is working on a third novel, The Boathouse, set in the early 1970s at the Knox Resort in Sholton, Wisconsin, on the shores of Lake Puckaway. Mark Duncan (Billy Joe): Mark worked for the McCardle Group through Pheasant Run in St. Charles, Il; Winter Hotel Group as CFO/Controller and for Mendel Plumbing as Controller, also in St. Charles. He attended Elgin Community College, Eastern Illinois University and Northern Illinois University. He had lived in the St. Charles area for most of his life with his wife and two sons. He passed away May 1st of 2023 at the age of 68.
