Zustand: Near Fine. Boxed set containing four items, one of which, a matted black and white photograph of the Serra sculpture, The Drowned and The Saved, is SIGNED by the artist in pencil at rear. Box also contains glossy pictorial 32 page staple-bound catalogue with introduction by Gerhard Dornseifer, map of synagogues in Erftkreis before 1938, text and 9 monochrome reproductions of photographs, Serra's explanatory text, biography, exhibition history and publication details; also a printed text in German (with English translation of Serra's text). The catalogue was designed by Serra together with Clara Weyergraf-Serra. The third piece is a printed text by Germer in German and the fourth is a folded oblong glossy invitation to the vernissage. All elements in excellent condition save the debossed black slipcase which shows some corner, small scratches and rubbing but remains sturdy. Other listings state that "this edition is not numbered but edition homepage states it is limited to 80 copies." However, we have not been able to identify "edition homepage". The title of this sculptural work by Serra refers to the eponymous book of the Italian writer Primo Levi. Levi wrote: We survivors are not only an exiguous but also an anomalous minority: we are those who (.) did not touch bottom.
