The Vamps or "vampires" were the female actors that paved the way for the flapper in the 1910s-20s and, in many ways, they were an extension of the Women's Rights effort and a new force of dominant female characters exhibited in entertainment. An insight into the history and culture of Russia, with a focus on life in the cities of St. Petersburg and Moscow, and information on the Kremlin. 8vo, 479pp, brown illustrated cloth with orange and black details, fold out map, b&w and color illustrations throughout.
