Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - My verse resembles the bread of Egypt-night passes over it, and you cannot eat it any more. Devour it the moment it is fresh, before the dust settles upon it. Its place is the warm climate of the heart; in this world it dies of cold. Like a fish it quivered for an instant on dry land, another moment and you see it is cold. Even if you eat it imagining it is fresh, it is necessary to conjure up many images.> Jalal al-Din Rumi (1207-73), legendary Persian Muslim poet, theologian, and mystic, wrote poems acclaimed through the centuries for their powerful spiritual images and provocative content, which often described Rumi's love for God in romantic or erotic terms. His vast body of work includes more than three thousand lyrics and odes. This volume includes four hundred poems selected by renowned Rumi scholar A. J. In den WarenkorbIn a recent crafted hand-binding, featuring boards covered with wood-patterned adhesive paper mounted on cardboard, with the title handwritten on the front board and spine. 4to. (27.5 × 20 cm). In Arabic. 296 p. (the final page is erroneously numbered 196 in print; accordingly, the OCLC record lists the extent as "196 pp."). Slightly trimmed edges; a small tear at the upper left corner of the imprint page with minor spotting; light foxing on some pages; and occasional underlining. Overall a very good copy. Extremely rare early Mecca edition of this commentary on Al-Sindhi's celebrated treatise on the rites and routes of the Islamic pilgrimage (hajj), Mecca and Medina, and the holy sites of the Arabian Peninsula, issued with marginalia titled Lubâb al-Manâsik. Printed at one of the earliest privately established printing presses in the Hijaz by Muhammad Majid al-Kurdi (1877-1931), at the expense of the book collector Shaykh Fida Muhammad al-Kashmiri al-Makki. The text was compiled by the Hanafi scholar Qutb al-Din al-Hanafî (1511-1582). The work is a foundational Hanafî source on the Islamic pilgrimage. Comprising twenty-five bâbs (chapters) and hundreds of fasls (subsections), it presents a comprehensive exposition of the rites of Hajj grounded in fiqh (Islamic law), enriched with historical examples. ON THE PUBLISHER: Muhammad Majid al-Kurdi (1294-1349 AH / 1877-1931 CE) was a scholar of Kurdish origin, book collector, and cultural entrepreneur born and based in Mecca, who played a significant role in the intellectual life of the late Ottoman and early Saudi Hijaz. What makes him historically notable is not only his scholarly activity, but above all the printing press he founded in 1909 in Mecca: The Matba'at al-Taraqqî al-Majidiyya (????? ?????? ????????). This press was one of the earliest private printing establishments in the Hijaz and played a crucial role in the transition of Mecca from manuscript culture to print culture. It produced works primarily in Islamic sciences (such as jurisprudence, hadith, Qur'anic exegesis, Arabic language, literature, and pilgrimage literature) while also distributing printed materials arriving from Egypt, India, the Ottoman lands, and Central Asia, thereby contributing to a wider transregional intellectual network. The press quickly evolved from a local enterprise into one of the major centres of scholarly publishing and book trade in Mecca, gaining recognition among scholars and intellectual circles across the Islamic world. In this sense, al-Kurdi is regarded not only as a scholar but also as one of the foundational figures in early Hijazi print culture. In addition, one of his most important intellectual undertakings was the establishment of the al-Majidiyya Library (al-Maktaba al-Majidiyya). Located near Bab al-Salam in Mecca, it functioned both as a major bookshop and as a repository of rare works. Its holdings included thousands of volumes in fields such as Qur'anic exegesis, hadith, jurisprudence, literature, and history. The collection also contained rare European imprints from Leiden, Germany, Britain, and France. Al-Kurdi actively built this library through extensive book trade networks across the Islamic world and by acquiring rare manuscripts at considerable expense. Together, his printing press and library became key hubs of scholarly circulation in Mecca, establishing al-Kurdi as one of the early figures who shaped the emergence of modern publishing and book culture in the Hijaz. Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. Paperback. Foolscap 8vo. (17 x 13,5 cm). In Ottoman script. 93 p. Hikâye-i Çehar Dervis. Farisîden tercüme olunmusdur. Translated from Persian into Ottoman Turkish by Sahaf M. Seyid. Roumi: 1305 = AD: 1889. Khusraw was the "Parrot of India", the greatest Persian-writing poet of medieval India. Son of Amir Sayf-al-d?n Mahmûd, a Turkish officer, and an Indian mother, he was born in Patiali and early displayed his poetical talent, encouraged by his maternal grandfather, 'Emâd-al-molk. His master in poetry was Sehâb-al-din Ma?mera Badâ'ûnî, who had written religious and panegyric verse. ?osrow took service with Sultan Balban's family, accompanying his son Bo?r? Khan to Bengal and later his eldest son to Multan. There the prince was killed by the Mongols in 683/1284 and the poet captured. Afterwards he went with the governor ?atem Khan to Oudh and returned to Delhi in 688/1289. He was a favorite of Sultan Jalal-al-din ?al'ji (689-95/1290-96) and of his assassin 'Ala'-al-din ?al'ji (695-715/1296-1315), under whom he wrote most of his works. After enjoying the favor of Qo?b-al-din Mobaraksah (716-20/1316-20), Gia?-al-din Togloq (720-25/1320-25), and for a short time Mo?ammad Togloq, ?osrow died in 725/1325. One should not blame him for his shifting allegiances in a confused political situation; this was the normal practice of medieval poets. (Source: Encyclopædia Iranica). There's no biographical information on translator Mehmed Seyid; only we can know that he was a bookseller who could speak and read Persian in his period with the 'sahaf' [i.e. Antiquarian bookseller] term. Complete title: Sharh al-Imam al-'âlim al-'allâmah al-habr al-bahr al-fahhâmah wahîd dahrihi wa-farîd 'asrihi Mullâ 'Alî Qârî al-musamma al-Maslak al-mutaqassit fî al-mansik al-mutawassit 'alâ Lubâb al-manâsik lil-Shaykh al-Imâm Rahmat Allâh al-Sindhî. Wa-bi-hâmishihi Kitâb Ad'iyat al-hajj wa-al-'umrah wa-mâ yata'allaqu bi-himâ. Early Cairo edition of this exceedingly rare commentary to Al-Sindhi's celebrated book of the rites, routes, and ceremonies of Islamic pilgrimage (hajj) and the descriptions of Mecca, Medina, Haramayn, and Jerusalem with surrounding areas in the Arabian Peninsula and the Holy Land by Hanafi scholar Ali al-Qârî (known as Mulla), including a particular travel account by annotator and over whose medium-sized "Lubâb al-Manâsîk" in marginalia. Qârî traveled to Mecca and studied under the scholar Shaykh Ahmad Ibn Hajar al-Haytami Maqqî after he received his basic Islamic education in Herat. He decided to stay in Mecca where he taught, died, and was buried. This book is a fundamental reference for the Islamic pilgrimage based on the Hanafi view. It consists of twenty-five bâbs [i.e. chapters] with over hundreds of fasls [i.e. subheads] describing complete Muslim pilgrimage rites from fiqh [i.e. Islamic law] with historical examples and Al-Qârî's travel account of Hajj. Ali al-Qârî (?-1605) was a polymath Hanafî Islamic scholar. After being born in Herat and receiving his classic Islamic education at an early age, he traveled to Mecca and studied under the scholar Shaykh Ahmad Ibn Hajar al-Haytami Maqqî. He was "one of the forerunners of learning and the peerless scholar of his time, most remarkable in his analyses and elucidation of language" (Al-Muhibbî), and "the encyclopaedist of the sciences of transmission and reason, imbued with the Prophetic Sunna, one of the foremost erudite scholars and great memorizers [of hadith]" (Al-Shawkânî). He lived in Mecca until his death in the year 1014 (Al-Laknâwî), and was buried in al-Ma?lât cemetery. Haddad 13 & 55.; This edition is not located in OCLC. For the 1870/71 edition, we can trace seven copies in the US libraries according to the OCLC: 780208843. (Source: Mullâ ?Alî b.
