Sixth edition. 12mo, xii, 398pp. Frontispiece, plates, folding map. Original red cloth, gilt titling to spine. A very good copy. Between 1949 and 1952, sixteen of Methuen's Little Guides were published with dustwrappers by Brian Cook. Despite assurances that there were more to follow, nothing happened until 1957, when Suffolk, Hertfordshire and Cheshire were published. All three of these later titles are now scarce today. This particular copy no longer has its full dustwrapper, but the front panel - including the magnificent painting of Kersey Village by Brian Cook - has been pasted to the front free endpaper.
