Erstausgabe
Softcover. Zustand: Near Fine. First edition. Quarto. [8] leaves, all but one printed rectos only. Illustrated throughout including artwork by W.W. Denslow, John T. McCutcheon, Horace Taylor, and others. Cord-tied stiff pictorial wrappers with front cover illustrated by McCutcheon. A near fine copy. A humorous keepsake published to commemorate the gathering of Chicago-area correspondents at a dinner at the Victoria Hotel. The text includes a list of "Guests of the Brigade," a roster of attendees, including "Col. W.W. Denslow," listed as a member of the "Pan Handle Regiment (Eleventh)," McCutcheon, George Ade, George B. McGrath, and others. Text also includes a detailed satirical menu for the event, a partial calendar for 1894, listing important dates relating to the Pullman Strike (which was being covered by many of the correspondents), and a poem by Ray Brown, amoung other material. Denslow illustrates two leaves: "Some Bums Thrown into the Enemy's Ranks" depicting caricatures of various political figures and a detailed group of sketches embellishing events of the 1894 Pullman Strike. An extremely scarce item. Presumably printed in a very small number, to be given to the correspondents and attendees of the "Bivouac." Rare. *OCLC* locates no copies; nor does the Greene & Hearns bibliography of Denslow.
