The formation of culture around coffee and coffeehouses dates back to 14th century Turkey. Coffeehouses in Western Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean were traditionally social hubs, as well as artistic and intellectual centers. Illustrated with photographic plates, and two large coloured folding maps to the rear. In a red cloth binding. Externally, sound, though with some bumping, some marks, and some sunning to the spine. Internally, generally firmly bound. Front hinge is very tender. Pages are bright, and generally clean, though with some instances of foxing. Good. book.

The book hovers between "good" and "fair," finally falling into the latter category owing to its cracked inner hinges and the loss of its rear free endpaper. It is, however, an admirable "fair." Publisher's brown cloth binding scuffed, worn at corners and at head and foot of spine, and rubbed at outer hinges; inner hinges cracked, with loss of rear free endpaper, but contents very good, folding maps and diagrams present, short tears at hinge of maps, folds excellent. Mostly unopened. 1420 grams.

Binding lightly rubbed, slight wear to head and tail of spine, corners bumped, blank endpapers foxed, frontispiece and title page have pale foxing, occasional foxing, pale browning to folds of coloured maps, bookseller's advertising label pasted to last pastedown, otherwise a very good copy.
