The Little Navajo Herder by Ann Nolan Clark is a children's book written in the early to mid-20th century. " The book emphasizes themes of family, nature, and the cultural significance of her responsibilities as a herder. The story follows the little girl's daily activities throughout the seasons, beginning with Winter, Autumn, Spring, Summer detailing her connection to her family, the land, and the animals she cares for. From her mother's hogan to the vibrant descriptions of sheep herding, wool processing, and the joy of community gatherings, she learns valuable lessons about hard work and resilience. Through her eyes, readers gain insights into the Navajo way of life, including practices such as dyeing yarn, weaving, and the importance of storytelling, all set against the backdrop of the beautiful, often harsh, landscapes of the Southwest. The book celebrates the girl's growth and the bond she has with her mother and father, reflecting both the innocence of childhood and the significance of cultural heritage." Project Gutenberg Ann Nolan Clark, born Anna Marie Nolan, was an American writer who won the 1953 Newbery Medal. In den WarenkorbSeveral James Joyce scholars have turned their attention to Schwartz, an early dealer in his books and manuscripts, as well as publisher of a couple of pirated editions. See William S. Brockman, 'Jacob Schwartz - "The Fly in the Honey"' in Joyce Studies Annual, Summer 1998. 1p, 4to. On the Ulysses Bookshop letterhead, printed on green paper. Addressed to 'Dear Sir:' and with valediction 'Au Revoir / Dr J Schwartz / prop / Ulysses Books'. Begins: 'Im taking a chance sending them without inquiring about [Flashers?] etc / You must pardon my damn timidness: but I just lost (for good) 4 valuable Norman Douglas manuscripts by being too trustful'. He states the amount of the bill, adding: 'please remit at once as Im really hard up'. Ends: 'I hope you enjoyed reading the catalogue / The Leslie item was sold'. See Image.
