Born into a family of brewers, George Hieronimus Bestelmeier (1764-1829) established a buisness of selling toys and fashionable accessories in a corner of the Nuremburg fruit market in the late 18th century; by 1793, his business expanded and he began issuing a catalog of items that could be purchased via the mail. This volume collects some 1400 illustrated examples of Bestelmeier's wares culled from his 1793 and 1807 catalogs. There are numerous examples of his toys, games, miniatures, magic tricks as well as small decortaive items for the household.
