Endpapers slightly browned, half-title foxed and last page slightly foxed, occasional faint foxing to margins. A very good clean bright copy. The reprints are smaller (270 mm, 10¾" tall) with a mounted colour plate on the cover. J. A. Shepherd (1867-1946) was an animal painter known for humorous drawings of animals with human clothing and personalities.
