Zustand: Good+. 1st Edition. viii+360+4 (pub.list, mostly phrenology); dated sig.of eminent historian of science R.M.Young fr.free endpaper above British Phrenological Society stamp, pencilled sig.of the ubiquitious Brighton-based phrenologist J.Millot Severn fr.free endpaper, who would have donated this to the Brit.P…hren.Soc. from who it passed to Young on the Society's dissolution, a much earlier ink sig.on t.p. which is quite inoffensive, endpapers browning a little, sm.spot of red sealing wax rear free endpaper, otherwise internally clean, tight & unmarked, sl.gutter opening between pp.144/145, but this not at all serious; covers sound but boards inevitably a little grubby and worn, pale cloth sp.has some splitting along fr.joint and slightly to top back joint, label present but barely legible due to surface rubbing, top.sp.sl.chipped. A sound copy despite faults, with an interesting provenance.
