In den WarenkorbCloth. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. None (illustrator). First edition. A very smart copy of this traditional English cookery book by Countess Morphy, complete with the original dust wrapper. First edition of this uncommon volume. With the publisher's scarce dust wrapper, unclipped. This work is the companion volume to the author's previous work, 'Recipes of All Nations', which consists of eighteen chapters each covering a different country's cuisine. In comparison, this collection comprises the traditional dishes of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, distinctly national and uninfluenced of the cookery of other countries.Recipes include hot cross buns, kedgeree, shepherd's pie, toad-in-the-hole, treacle pudding and gooseberry fool.Written by Countess Morphy, the pen name of Marcelle Azra Hincks, a British food writer, dance critic and cookery demonstrator who was born in New Orleans in 1883, moving to England as a young girl in 1891. 'Recipes of All Nations' is arguably her best known work, which also included two chapter on 'The Creole Cookery of New Orleans'. She aimed to dispel the myths and fears commonly associated with foreign cookery at the time. In the original cloth binding. With the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with mild rubbing and bumping to the edges of the cloth. Dust wrapper is smart, with edge wear to the spine head and tail and a few scattered spots and handling marks to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with offsetting to the endpapers and occasional spots, heaviest and most scattered to the first and last few leaves. Near Fine. book.
