Adolphe-Marie-Pierre de Circourt (1801-79), married Anastasie de Klustine in 1830. On their return from foreign travel to Paris in 1836 they established a successful salon at 11 rue des Saussaies until the death of Madame de Circourt in 1863. The Count of Cavour (1810-1861) was an Italian statesman, who worked with Napoleon III to eventually roust the Austrians from Lombardy. These are the intimate letters, translated from the French by Arthur John Butler, between the Count of Cavour and Mme. de Circourt, published posthumously.
