Conflict is innately involved in trading and trying to maximize one's own position but globalisation has brought information and resources closer to the trader allowing for faster and more informed decision making. So although conflicts may arise, globalisation helps to extinguish the conflict faster. NAFTA is a trilateral agreement between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico which allows for free trade within North America. Although there is a section in NAFTA that specifically deals with conflicts between member countries, in general, the agreement makes it easier to do trade or invest by globalising the continent. That's not to say conflict doesn't arise because it quite frequently does; it just happens less often because the ground rules are well established.

There are many different theories that scholars adhere to in order to make sense of these issues such as liberalism, Marxism, or constructivism but 'realism has been the dominant theory of world politics since the beginning of academic International Relations' (Baylis & Smith, 2008, p.95) which falls under the positivist umbrella. To test the validity and applicability of realism, this paper will analyze Iran's nuclear program through the lens of a realist to understand why there has been so much tension surrounding their nuclear advancements. Of course, there are many different variations of realism but for the purpose of this paper, a `unified realism' will be used which is explained more in detail later. Ultimately, if realism can reasonably identify and mutually relate some of the key concepts that are found in this global issue, then it will be considered a success.Much like realism, Iran's nuclear program has a long and distinct history. Following two incidents of children killing children, this paper will examine various arguments made by Nils Christie (2000) and Louk Hulsman (1986) in regards to crime. This paper will describe and analyse the public and political responses to two notorious cases of the killing of children by children, one in England and one in Norway. Using the works of Christie (2000) and Hulsman (1986), I will present the ways in which the cases were discussed as symptomatic of wider social problems, and how differently England and Norway acted, ultimately portraying their respective juvenile criminal justice system. This paper will examine both the similarities and the differences in the reactions to the killings in England and Norway, arguing that while the similarities may be more obvious the differences may be more instructive. On the surface, both seem like similar cases but because of the different geographical locations, they were handled quite differently. This sets up the context of penological arguments about the emergence of a postmodern penality. To start, one must understand the basis of Christie's (2000) and Hulsman's (1986) theories respectively. Nils Christie (2000) argues that a nation's extent and level of punishment is a normative question. In criminology, the term normative defines the structures within culture which help regulate the proper function of society. These structures encourage and enforce valued social activity and discourage negative acts. Punishment is normative because crime control executives and decision-makers are both free and obliged to choose how far punishment will go. The argument Christie (2000) raises is that contemporary crime control values the prison-industrial complex (expansion, big business, and continued incarceration) because society fears any alternative.

The true parties affected in conflict deserve the control and authority to resolve the problem how they see fit.A preferred emerging model is the restorative justice process. Restorative justice is part of a larger social movement as it works in collaboration with Alternative Dispute Resolution models and proponents of conflict prevention/resolutions. This restoration system is based on cooperative and constructive inputs from all parties involved in the conflict. This includes offender, victims, family members, spouses, members of the community and any other stakeholders. The community has the responsibility of overseeing specific conflict resolutions and ensuring all parties are served proper justice. There are many benefits with this type of system such as bringing back the conflict to where it occurred in the first place and solving it there with the key stakeholders as primary participants. This returns justice to where it belongs: in the community with the people affected in the matter. Furthermore, human beings are so diverse and every problem complex in its own ways that no single apparatus or mechanism can solve all problems equally. This is why the more local and responsive restorative justice model is being pushed by academics. It is more adaptive than the retributive system and allows for more compassion and healing.
