Bound in a contemporary French quarter paper bradel binding. (boards covered with green papeer; spine in red paper). The spine show some wear and is damaged, with some loss of paper at the top and the end. With a leather title label '' Vues D'Hollande''. Very fresh and near perfect interior. Only the plate ''Nieuwe haven van Texel'' has two faint stains in the engraved caption. The plates have been expertly mounted on guards. A fine crisp copy with stainless text and plate leaves. (exept Texel). The book was first published in 1802 without a text. This second edition was augmented with a text by Cornelis van der Aa. Striking harbour-views with in the foreground a great many Dutch sailing-ships. Views are from the ports of Batavia, Onrust, Rotterdam, Hellevoetsluis, Goedereede, Den Briel, Dordrecht, Maaslandsluis, Vlaardingen, Schiedam, Delfshaven, Amsterdam, Texel, Den Helder, Hoorn, Enkhuizen, Medemblik, Edam, Middelburg, Rammekes, Vlissingen, Zieikzee, Veere, Brouwershaven, Harlingen and Stavoren. The port plates are preceded by two similar plates : on whaling and on herring fishery.
