First edition. 75pp., frontispiece portrait of the Brigade Commander, and 4 full-page black and white illustrations by Captain F.W. Walter, M.C. The Royal Garrison Artillery (RGA) was formed in 1899 as a distinct arm of the British Army's Royal Regiment of Artillery serving alongside the other two arms of the Regiment, the Royal Field Artillery and the Royal Horse Artillery. The RGA were the 'technical' branch of the Royal Artillery who were responsible for much of the professionalisation of technical gunnery that was to occur during the First World War. The 77th Brigade, R.G.A. originally known as the 77th Heavy Artillery Group, was formed at Aldershot on October 27th, 1916, being transferred to Lydd on November 3, 1916. This is a history of the Brigade from its formation and the part it played in France in the First World War. The book is bound in the original grey cloth covered boards with gold titling on the front board. The case of the book is in good to very good condition with shelf wear, soiling and some staining on the boards. The top front corner is fairly heavily bumped and the other corners and spine ends are lightly bumped with wear and some fraying to the cloth on the spine ends. The contents are tight and clean with some browning to the endpapers. There is no inscription.
