This is an account of the four cavalry regiments in the British Army that have borne the number Nineteen. The first was raised in Ireland, in 1759, and disbanded in 1821. The second regiment was raised in 1779, and disbanded in 1783. The third was raised as the 23rd Light Dragoons in 1781, and renumbered in 1783. The fourth regiment was originally raised by the East India Company on the outbreak of the Mutiny of the Bengal Army, and received the number nineteen on the transfer of its services to the Crown. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with some shelf wear to the boards. The spine is faded and the spine ends are lightly bumped. The contents are tight and clean with no inscription.
