Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1926 8vo, x, 115pp. Original green cloth stamped in black to top cover and backstrip, original pictorial dust jacket in green and white; frontispiece plus 16 photographic illustrations. Dust jacket chipped, missing 1 inch gap top left front cover, 2 inch gap at base of backstrip, light soiling. Bookplate affixed to front pastedown, with ink inscription above, "World Golf Hall of Fame"; former owner inscription in pencil to front endpapers, else near fine internally. Very good in good dust jacket. § First edition. As her biography at the World Golf Hall of Fame states, Glenna Collett Vare (1903-1989) was known as the female Bobby Jones, as much for her composure & sportsmanship as for her astonishing achievements. She won six U.S., two Canadian, & one French Women's Amateur Championships -- in her day there was no professional women's tour -- and she was certainly the dominant American female golfer of the first half of the 20th century. Bookplate of golf author Harry Gottlieb affixed to front pastedown. D&J C16090.
