Hardback, 7.5 x 5 inches. Red cloth with black lettering to spine and boards. In very good condition. Some rubbing/fading to cloth on spine. Spine professionaly rebacked, and hinges reinforced between endpapers. Old tape marks and some foxing to endpapers. Inside pages all tanned throughout. Both maps remain clean and bright. A couple of pencil notes/lines next to text at p60-62, and at p69. Else a very good clean and tight copy. 1295pp. Adverts to endpapers. Profusely illustrated with 900 B&W illustrations in text, mostly views. Large fold-out colour map at front, and smaller folding colour map at p144. The early editions are rare. This "Bible of Bordeaux", was first published in 1846 by Cocks entitled: "Bordeaux: its wines and the claret country". In 1850 he published the first French edition in collaboration with Feret.

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few minor marks to the boards. Light rubbing to the joints. Front hinge is strained. Front endpaper is torn. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age-toned and clean. Very Good. book.
