Theodore Roosevelt, the Progressive or Bull Moose nominee was shot by John Schrank, a mentally deranged man, in Milwaukee in October 1912. Roosevelt went on to speak at a rally for nearly 50 minutes with a bullet in his chest. This book was a piece of "instant journalism, " with much material coming from Wisconsin newspapers of the period.
