Marianne Clouzot (1908-2007), fille du célèbre historien de l'art Henri Clouzot, est è la fois peintre, sculpteur, graveur, céramiste, illustratrice. Après un passage è l'Union des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, elle délaisse pour un temps les arts appliqués et entre è l'académie de peinture d'André Lhote. Sa première exposition particulière se tient è la galerie Charpentier è Paris en 1935. Elle commence l'illustration d'ouvrages è cette période. Elle illustre quatre-vingt cinq livres pour enfants de 1950 è 1979. Son esprit doux et joyeux se prète donc particulièrement bien è l'illustration de ce texte de Duhamel qui relate les joies de l'enfance des deux fils ainés de l'auteur de Pasquier.
