A brief and pointed answer to "Scrutator", attacking Matthew Bell and asking why the "WHIG-FINGER" should be thrust into the Tory "PIE". A striking example of short-form Georgian political satire. The 1826 Northumberland election involved Lord Howick, Matthew Bell, H. T. Liddell, and T. W. Beaumont, and became notorious for immense expense, coalition rumours, personal attacks, and extensive printed propaganda. Single printed broadside, approximately 24 x 18.4 cm. Folded as issued with light creasing and minor age toning. Very good. A bibliographic record for this title is traced via Google Books, though no digitised institutional copy has been located. Scarce Northumberland political ephemera from one of the most famous county elections of the Georgian period.
