The text includes the pseudo-Ciceronian Consolatio attributed to Carlo Sigonio (1583) who discovered th 'lost philosophical work' which is printed here along genuine fragments, Cicero's collected works, and De Petitione Consultatus. Consolatio is a philosophical work written by the grieving author to assuage the guilt of his daughter Tullia's death. Cicero was a Roman statesman who was mentored by the Stoic philosopher Diodotus. Orphanotrophei was a renowned Orphanage press in Halle run by the Francke Foundation, an 18th century orphanage and printing press of scholarly works in Germany.
