The purpose of?Wounds of Hong Kong?is to record police brutality. All 24 interviewees have sacrificed in their own ways during the Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill Movement. Among the thousands wounded, they are only a few. I would like to sincerely thank them for sharing their experience, insights, and feelings to me. I remember at the beginning of the resistance outbreak in June of 2019. As a photographer/journalist, I felt unsure. Protesters all covered their faces with masks, so how could I tell their stories? How can I search their ethos beneath the masks? However, my worry was quickly swept away as I realized that they weren't the only ones fighting, so were you and I. Apart from the street clashes, the daily challenges these protesters face also reflect the problems in Hong Kong's society. For example, after being injured by the police, teenagers may not able to go home due to their pro-establishment parents. That begs the question, shouldn't a 'home' be a place for recovery? When someone was injured on the head with blood streaming down his face, the only thing on his mind was about whether or not he could still travel the next day and risk his girlfriend being upset. Later, a district councilor was attacked in a middle-class housing estate. The background of the suspect reflected that red capital was driving up property prices in Hong Kong. The Chinese Communist Party's power had rooted itself deeply into every sector and class of Hong Kong. Housing problems are major worries for Hong Kong citizens. Because it is impossible to afford the cost of a studio, the photograph locations were almost always at public places like back alleys and parks. I had to hide the backgrounds. FOUR VINTAGE HONG KONG UNUSED POSTCARDS WITH TITLES IN CHINESE AND ENGLISH (shipping USA is included in the sale price; if the shipping is added in the invoice from AbeBooks, I'll deduct the fee at my acceptance of the order) The original Peak Tower and Peak Tower Restaurant in Hong Kong, designed… by architect Chung Wah. Construction started in 1971, and it was opened to the public on 29 August 1972. It featured a distinctive rounded, bowl-shaped structure on top of a rectangular white base.Amenities: When unveiled, it housed a top-deck restaurant and a coffee shop. Renovations: The structure underwent a major redevelopment in 1993, transforming it into a retail and entertainment complex. The Tower Restaurant, a western restaurant, opened in the same year. It was situated on the top deck while the Peak Coffee Shop was located on the floor below. Both the upper floors were supported by two columns allowing a clear space between the upper and lower parts of the tower. The white, egg-shaped dome building in the top-right corner is the Hong Kong Space Museum, located on the waterfront of Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon. The Hong Kong Space Museum opened its doors in October 1980. The Hong Kong Space Museum was designed by Mr. Joseph Ming Gun Lee (also known as José Lei Meng-can). Lee pioneered the building's iconic, 8,000-square-meter minimalist design, highlighted by its seamless white egg-shaped dome to house the planetarium projector without obstruction, as well as, the Stanley Ho Space Theatre, which features a 23-meter hemispherical projection screen. (The photo shows the fully completed, operational dome complex with regular urban activity surrounding it, like the Taxis queues of iconic red-and-silver Toyota Comfort and Nissan Cedric urban taxicabs.) The Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade (Bottom-Right): The extensive commercial waterfront high-rises and hotels that host these massive Christmas light displays were built as part of the Tsim Sha Tsui East reclamation project, which materialized in the early 1980s. The tower is situated at Victoria. Christmas Lights at Tsim Sha Tsui East. Iconic festive neon and lightbulb decorations along the waterfront promenade of Tsim Sha Tsui East. The Tradition: Starting in the early 1980s, commercial buildings and luxury hotels along Salisbury Road and Mody Road collaborated annually to create massive, competitive holiday light displays.The View: The long-exposure streak photography captures the moving traffic along the harbor-side corridor, glowing next to the massive "MERRY XMAS" installations. Top-Left Image: The Checkerboard Approach to Kai Tak AirportThe top-left photo captures a Boeing 747 on its notoriously low final approach over the flyovers of Kowloon City into the historic Kai Tak Airport.The Flight Path: Aircraft had to perform a sharp 47-degree visual banking turn at low altitude over a densely populated urban center to line up with Runway 13. The hills in the background house the famous "Checkerboard Hill" (Kowloon Tsai Park), which was painted in large orange and white blocks to guide pilots visually during their descent.
