Dieses berühmte Spiel ist das dritte der sechs Verwandlungsspiele, die Johann Georg Cotta zwischen 1804 und 1811 herausgab. Die Hofkarten zeigen Figuren aus Friedrich Schillers Theaterstück "Wallenstein". Adolf G. bemerkt in seinem zugehörigem Almanach, daß die Figuren jeweils "passende Kostüme" trügen, und dass sie in "sinnvoller Pantomime" dargestellt seinen. Möglicherweise spiegeln sie zeitgenössische Theaterkostüme wider. - Das Spiel wurde ursprünglich als Almanach veröffentlicht, in dem jede der 52 Karten einer der 52 Wochen des Jahres entsprach. Die Karten waren nicht zum spielen gedacht. Cottas ursprüngliches Ziel war es, die geschmacklosen Designs zeitgenössischer deutscher Spielkarten durch künstlerisch hochwertige Karten zu ersetzen. Cottas Transformationskarten waren sehr erfolgreich und wurden zum Vorbild für spätere Spiele anderer Verlage. Die Vorlagen für dieses Spiel zeichnete der Schlachtenmaler Wilhelm Christian von Faber du Faur. This famous game is the third of six transformation games published by Cotta between 1804 and 1811. The court cards depict characters from Friedrich Schiller's play "Wallenstein." Adolf G. notes in his accompanying almanac that the characters each wear "appropriate costumes" and are portrayed in "meaningful pantomime." They may reflect contemporary theatrical costumes. The game was originally published as an almanac, with each of the 52 cards corresponding to one of the 52 weeks of the year. The cards were not intended for play. Cotta's original aim was to replace the tasteless designs of contemporary German playing cards with artistically superior ones. Cotta's transformation cards were very successful and became a model for later games from other publishers. The designs for this game were drawn by the battle painter Wilhelm Christian von Faber du Faur.
