hard bound. Zustand: Wie neu. Gebraucht - Wie neu The rapid pace at which knowledge is expanding and technological innovations are emerging presents both challenges and opportunities in imaging sciences. As workload and training demands increase, the ways in which we practice and train future practitioners must evolve to meet the new demands. For those involved in medical education, a reconsideration of the way the business of imaging is conducted is needed. Revolutionary changes are on the medical imaging horizon, and responses must address the 'new reality' on a global scale. This includes planning for outreach programs that may be extended to developing countries with emerging economies -This is a book about scholarship in the broadest sense. The writing of this book has shown how through scholarship we can bring together academics, practitioners, scientists, radio logists, and administrators from around the world to begin the kinds of conversations that promise to move us to a new way of thinking about and enacting radiology education. Over the past century, we have witnessed tremendous change in biomedical science and the scope of this change has demanded new approaches to medical education. The most significant of the changes in medical education has been a fundamental paradigm shift from a teacher-centered approach to a student-centered approach. This shift, c- bined with the explosion of knowledge, has pressed medical schools to undertake major curricular and institutional reform. At the same time, progress in medical education research methods has led to innovative approaches to support the improvement of learning methods and evaluation. Over the past several years there has also been a shift toward thinking about and planning for medical education beyond the undergraduate level to include postgraduate and continuing medical education, but also to consider learning within the professional environment and the development of professional continuous education. Viewing medical education as a continuum that spans from the first year of medical school until retirement introduces new ways to conceptualize the teaching and learning needs that address lifelong learning demands that extend over 30 or 40 years.

This includes planning for outreach programs that may be extended to developing countries with emerging economies -The role of medical imaging is increasingly integral to health care, drug discovery, biology, and other life sciences. The changes that are occurring call for innovation in the training of the medical imaging experts of tomorrow. In their previous book, Radiology Education: The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (2008), the editors addressed the philosophical and theoretical underpinnings of scholarship in radiology education. Now, in The Practice of Radiology Education: Challenges and Trends, they focus on the application of these concepts within educational programs for radiology residents and fellows. The contributors are educators in radiology from around the world, providing a global perspective on the main challenges facing medical imaging education and the potential strategies required to meet these challenges. It is hoped that the book will assist in attaining the ultimate goal of radiology education: to help patients. Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book reviews the philosophies, theories, and principles that underpin assessment and evaluation in radiology education, highlighting emerging practices and work done in the field. The sometimes conflicting assessment and evaluation needs of accreditation bodies, academic programs, trainees, and patients are carefully considered. The final section of the book examines assessment and evaluation in practice, through the development of rich case studies reflecting the implementation of a variety of approaches. This is the third book in a trilogy devoted to radiology education. The previous two books focused on the culture and the learning organizations in which our future radiologists are educated and on the application of educational principles in the education of radiologists. Here, the trilogy comes full circle: attending to the assessment and evaluation of the education of its members has much to offer back to the learning of the organization.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - While many books are available on disaster medicine, none is specifically devoted to the role of physicians in the management of patients exposed to radiation leakage from a damaged nuclear power plant. Radiation Disaster Medicine aims to fill this void based on the response to the Fukushima nuclear accident. Each chapter addresses principles and practices of radiation medicine within the specific context of that accident. Topics covered include the role of physicians in radiation disasters, the concepts of external and internal exposure, prehospital and hospital response, disaster behavioral health, and radiation emergency response from the perspective of national and international institutions. Most of the contributors are active educators and researchers in radiation medicine with first-hand experience in dealing with prehospital triage and management of patients within secondary and tertiary care hospitals in Japan.
