First edition, first printing, of this "brilliant combination of mathematical economic theory and applied econometrics". Charles F. Roos (1901-1958) was a professor of mathematics at Cornell from 1928 to 1931 and director of the Cowles Commission from September 1934 to January 1937. The Cowles Commission was founded in 1932 by economist and businessman Alfred Cowles (1891-1984) as an economic research institution. It was first based at Colorado Springs before moving to Yale University in 1955, where it was renamed the Cowles Foundation. The New Palgrave IV, pp. 219-20. Quarto. Original blue cloth, supralibros of Cowles Commission for Research in Economics to front cover. Ink ownership stamp to front free endpaper. Spine scuffed and faded, extending onto the heads of the covers, tips a little rubbed, otherwise a very good copy.
