Erstausgabe
First edition. Signed by Anthony Caro. Publisher's card covers with integral black thick paper dustwrapper printed in red, brown orange and purple. 4to. Illustrated in colour and black and white throughout. An excellent very near fine copy, the binding square and firm with a little bumping at the spine tip. The contents are clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Loosely laid in are several printed sheets for visitors to the 1999 exhibition premiere of The Last Judgement at the XLVIII Venice Biennale. Signed by the artist in black ink on the half title. Scarce thus. The Last Judgement, Caro's response to the Balkan War, is an installation of 25 mixed-media sculptures in which wood, ceramic and metal jostle to create their semi-representational conjurings of human agony and religious imagery. Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. Lucius Books welcomes direct contact with our customers.
