Illustrated with photographs including the frontis one of Kalola who, according to the foreword, was present at the meeting between Stanley and Livingstone at Ujiji in 1871. 8vo lime green cloth stamped in silver on spine; top edge dark pink; 295 pages including a nearly 30 page appendix covering names, guilds, rights, rituals, etc. Very good to near fine with light scattered foxing and minor soiling; in very good or better dust jacket showing foxing to spine and rear panel but otherwise with only minimal wear. An uncommon book that is scarce to rare in dust jacket.
